Brief Encounter
By Noël Coward
Adapted by Emma Rice
Directed by Steve Foster
Heath Players are proud to present Brief Encounter — a timeless story of love, longing and impossible choices.
Set in a 1930s railway station café, this beautifully tender drama follows Laura Jesson, a happily married woman whose chance meeting with a stranger leads to an unexpected and life-changing connection. What begins as an innocent friendship slowly deepens into something neither of them planned — nor can easily escape.
Emma Rice’s adaptation brings fresh theatricality, music and movement to Noël Coward’s much-loved classic, while preserving the emotional restraint and quiet heartbreak at its core. Beneath the steam of passing trains and the polite conventions of the era lies a powerful and deeply human story that still resonates today.
Under the direction of Steve Foster, Heath Players invite you to experience an evening of classic British theatre filled with nostalgia, atmosphere and unforgettable performances.
